Mood-control

Want to excite the audience or calm the audience down? No worries - We got you. Sondoutes Loudspeakers make people hear things they never heard before. The rubbing of the artist's clothes, the breathing of back vocals, a subway train passing underneath a recording studio. Feel the artists body language by hearing it.

Incognito

There is neither a characteristic sound nor an acoustic footprint. The speakers don't stand out - They disappear. Create a 3 dimensional sound with just one box. Put the artist into the spotlight and don't worry about the sound.

Intelligible

Hear what is being said without having to turn the volume up. The waveform shape is retained and the maximum peak SPL is huge. Whisper to 200 people at the same time. Whisper to people that are 100 Meters away. Even in loud environments.

Compatible

With hundreds of people the background noise can rise quickly. With conventional systems technicians start to fight the background noise by increasing the level so that people can understand what is being said. With sondoutes speakers you don't have to raise the volume much. The system is super intelligible - Even when the background noise is louder than the speaker. Don't upset your neighbours and prevent hearing damage.

Phase and SPL

Time and amplitude are deeply related. When a system reproduces all pitches at the same time, the pressure of all drivers will add up - Forming a peak sound pressure level that is many times greater compared to conventional systems.
With 2 drivers a gain of 6dB can be obtained by flattening the phase response.
Heat and power remain the same.

Sound fall off

Some systems are split up into bass cabinets and mid/high cabinets. The boxes are not at the same height. The distances between the boxes and the listener are therefore not equal. Even if level and phase are adjusted to counter-act this - It will only work at one sweet spot. Walk closer or step back and you'll hear an imbalance due to differences in sound pressure fall off. Sondoutes deliberatly chose to make only one box to prevent this.

Bell-Modes

At higher frequencies the driver surfaces start to deform in a similar way as a flag would deform in the wind. This effect is called self-resonance, bell-mode or eigen-mode. At this point the system will start to ring and it creates new tones (distortion) which were not part of the incoming music signal. Sondoutes Products don't excite bell modes.

We want to hear the music - Not the system.

Directivity

If a system is placed close to an obstacle such as a floor, wall or corner, some frequencies will get louder. Without counter-measures the sound will be unbalanced and fatigueing. Our system is designed for the free-field condition. It can be put on a tripod or it can be hung.

It will sound balanced - Everywhere.

Reflections

When sound hits an obstacle it is reflected with opposite polarity. The reflections can interfere with the sound from the source. Since loudspeakers don't only project sound into the front, nearby surfaces such as the back wall can be a problem. The best way to reduce the effect is to move away from the surfaces. This will reduce the sound pressure of the reflections as they have to travel further compared to the direct sound. Our perception (Haas effect) will allow your brain to distinguish the direct sound from the reflected sound - In other words, your brain ignores the reflected signal.

Simulation results from a finite-element analysis of the loudspeaker enclosure.

Box next to a Box

Loudspeaker boxes can be though of sources and obstacles at the same time. Placing a box next to a box completely changes the directivity and Frequency Response. Depending on the listening angle some frequencies may cancel or add up. We are a strong proponent of the single box per channel approach as it is easy, accurate and it sounds the same everywhere.

More boxes ≠ Higher sound pressure.

Vision

The Philosophy is clear: More - with less. Point-source, lightweight, hyper-accurately calibrated. No heavy arrays, no interference, no experiments. An acoustical reference for quality - in many ways (actually 4-ways). These loudspeakers can be carried by one person and fit in every car. With a flat frequency response, flat Phase response and an acoustic Q of 0.5 (critically damped) you can still understand a whisper from 100 meters.

*The product reproduces the signal without changing anything. The system doesn't add a characteristic sound nor more bass. The best performance can be expected with a Crest factor of >15dB.
